Buon Giorno!
Italy was amazing. Art, architecture, history and the Catholic church. The four are inseparable. Churches are museums, art is history, architecture is art, and the Catholic church is part of it all.
Powered by white bread, cheese and sugar I tried to see it all. I almost did too. I covered Rome, Florence, and Venice in two weeks. My traveling bud, Suzanne and I got seriously lost one night trying to get home on the Roman bus system. After that night we knew all about the bus system, and never got lost again. We were experts. Florence seemed like a small city after Rome, and Venice was downright petite and sweet. We did it in the right order. I never would have had the energy for Rome at the end of the trip. I would have had to double the sugar intake, or join the Catholic church to have the faith and fortitude that would have taken.
As Dorothy said, "There's no place like home." I'm glad to be back in my humble little routine which is neither famous, historic, or Catholic, but I do try my hand at art every now and then.

Claudia, from Portland, OR was in the Bay Area recently visiting her son. He treated his Mom to a private lesson to further her love of painting. Here she is with her wonderful painting that she made during the session. It is based on a photo she took in Missouri.
