In June of this year, I will be having a solo exhibition at the John Natsoulas Gallery in Davis, CA. From now until then I will be highlighting one painting that will be in that show, in this newsletter. The paintings are loosely based on photographs of family and strangers, and modified in paint to form an imaginary narrative.

This month's painting is based on a photograph I purchased at an antique store on San Carlos Avenue in San Jose. I just loved the old black and white photo of these young girls side by side in what I assume is a first communion photo. It looked like it could be a Diane Arbus photo. She is one of my all time favorite photographers showing the quirky, odd, strange side of life.
