"Deep Roots"
Images of the house where I grew up have shown up again. They represent love, security, comfort and a load of other things. The trees have grown roots and reach all the way to me in California. Figuratively I am rooted in my midwesetern upbringing. It plays such a large role of who I am today. The little girl on the chair was taken from an old b&w photo. It is embellished with a little red pocketbook. That's my favorite thing in the whole painting. The white leggings and black boots are a close second.

We've begun a new tradition at the studio painting a self portrait around the new year. Here are two self portraits painted by Linda. A portrait from 2007 and one from 2008. Thank you for sharing. Great progress!

Pet Portrait of the Month
This is Mona. Her owner loves to dress her up in elegant scarves. I painted this portrait of her and then displayed it in my gallery window for the holidays because she looked like she was "Ready for the Christmas". |
